Gateway to Asia: Hong Kong and Indonesia Strengthen Capital Market Synergy

Jakarta – Efforts to strengthen capital market connectivity between Indonesia and Hong Kong were again demonstrated through an exclusive forum entitled "Gateway to Asia: Unlocking Capital Market Synergies Between Hong Kong and Indonesia" held on Thursday (September 18) at the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office Jakarta, World Trade Center II.

The event, organized by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office Jakarta, InvestHK, and the Indonesian Listed Companies Association (AEI), presented a 2025 capital market outlook and strategies for Indonesian issuers to expand their business growth through access to the Hong Kong capital market.

The Director General of the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office Jakarta, Libera Cheng, together with the Chairman of AEI, Armand W. Hartono, opened the forum by emphasizing the importance of regional collaboration amidst the dynamics of the global economy.

The forum featured two panel discussions. The first panel discussed funding opportunities for Indonesian companies, featuring Dickson Chan (CITIC CLSA), Kelvin Teo (HKEX), and Teuku Fahmi Ariandar (Indonesia Stock Exchange). The second panel highlighted post-IPO readiness and strategies, with speakers from Baker McKenzie, EY Indonesia, HHP Law Firm, and J.P. Morgan.

The interactive discussion was moderated by Hilwan Yogi Brahmanda (HKETO Jakarta) and Abhishek Bakshi (HKEX). The speakers emphasized the importance of governance preparedness, corporate resilience, and leveraging global market instruments to enable Indonesian issuers to compete internationally.

Through this forum, the organizers hope that Indonesia-Hong Kong cooperation in the capital market can open wider access to funding, while strengthening the positions of both countries as important players in the Asian region.
