Pak Anugrah Dezmercoledi from the Electric Mobility Ecosystem Association introduced the innovative concept of "Battery-as-a-Service" (BaaS) which allows electric vehicle owners to purchase vehicles without batteries and only pay usage or subscription fees as needed. Like buying a fuel-free vehicle, this system separates the battery as a separate service. This enables energy savings of around 80%, at a cost of IDR 247 per km for an electric vehicle compared to IDR 1,270 per km for an oil-fueled vehicle.
Pak Anugrah also underlined the positive impact of electric mobility on the family economy and industry, especially the logistics, public transportation and ride-hailing services sectors, which can benefit from lower operational costs. If the target of 13 million electric motorbikes is achieved by 2030, Indonesia's fuel subsidies could be reduced by up to IDR 9.8 trillion per year.
The BaaS concept also opens up new investment opportunities, especially in after-sales service, maintenance and battery replacement, which has been implemented in several countries including Vietnam. Pak Anugrah hopes that the government will continue to support this development with the right policies and incentives, helping Indonesia achieve a more cost-effective and environmentally friendly mobility future.
