Patrick Walujo: Visionary Leader Behind the Transformation of GoTo and the Indonesian Investment World

Patrick Sugito Walujo is an important figure in the world of investment and technology in Indonesia. Born in 1975, he began his formal education at Canisius College High School before continuing on to Cornell University in New York. There, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Operations Research and Industrial Engineering in 1997.

Patrick's career journey began at Goldman Sachs & Co., where he worked as an analyst from 1997 to 2000. Next, he joined Pacific Century Ventures in Tokyo, serving as Senior Vice President until 2003. This international experience became the foundation for his investment vision in the future.

In March 2003, Patrick founded Northstar Group, an investment company focused on private equity and venture capital. As co-founder and co-managing partner, he brought Northstar to become one of the largest players in Southeast Asia, with various strategic investments. One of the most significant steps was becoming an initial shareholder in Gojek, which is now part of the GoTo ecosystem after the merger with Tokopedia.

Apart from supporting startup growth, Patrick also plays an important role in the transformation of the banking sector in Indonesia. He was involved in various corporate actions at PT Bank Tabungan Pensiunan Nasional Tbk (BTPN) and PT Bank Jago Tbk (ARTO), which are now known as leading digital banks.

In June 2023, Patrick was appointed CEO of PT GoTo Gojek Tokopedia Tbk, replacing Andre Soelistyo. Under his leadership, GoTo continues to innovate, including launching the stand-alone GoPay application, to expand the reach and accessibility of digital financial services for the public.
